 Hydrometallurgical Concentrator Back Shift Supervisor.

 

Contract (renewable) Fly-in-fly-out position in the mining sector in a remote and safe area of the Democratic Rep of the Congo.   Single status position (not favourable for wives and families to reside there) with a six day working week. Reports to the Metallurgy Manager.

 

KEY TECHNICAL SKILLS REQUIRED:

  • Metallurgical Degree/Equivalent
  • 7+ years experience in the mining industry.

·         Candidate must be competent and knowledgeable in all aspects of hydrometallurgical copper and cobalt production.

·          Responsibilities are to ensure back shift production targets are achieved for filtration, roasting, leaching and electro-winning of finished products.

 

KEY COMPETENCIES REQUIRED:

  • Metallurgical background
  • Demonstrated leadership ability
  • Experience in copper hydrometallurgical plant
  • Good communication skills in English (French is a plus)

 

REMUNERATION AND BENEFITS:

·         Annual salary up to US$110,000 (tax free plus benefits), depending on skills and experience (Grade/Level 3).

·         Benefits:  Bonus potential; Travel allowance; Accommodation and meals provided; 84 days annual leave (on a roster base); Medical; Group Benefits Scheme, etc.

PLEASE NOTE: Regrettably, we are unable to consider candidates who do not have prior mining industry experience (This is a crucial requirement and not negotiable). 

ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS:

·       A recognized Bachelor of Engineering Degree in Mining, Geology or Civil.

·       A recognized Master Degree in Geotechnical Engineering

·       10 years + experience

·       English and French (an advantage) languages.

·       Physically fit to handle long hours and demanding work schedule

·       Full clean driving license.

 

KEY TECHNICAL SKILLS REQUIRED:

·       Able to provide work direction and technical guidance and supervision for the Geotechnical Department

·       Ability to correctly define the mining parameters, develop strata management plans and geotechnical risk assessment for the while surface and underground mining operations

·       Able to provide a safe work environment at all times

·       Ability to comply with Company and Legislative requirements

·       Ability to effective interact with Mine Technical and Operational Teams

·       Able to assist planning and execution of the engineering work required in support of operations.

·       Provide a mentorship role to the national staff.

 

KEY COMPETENCIES REQUIRED:

·       Attention to detail and analytical skills.

·       Knowledge of Mine Safety requirements.

·       Sound computer skills and familiarity with relevant software and instrumentation.

·       Annual salary negotiable per annum (tax free plus benefits), depending on skills and experience

·       Benefits:  Bonus potential of 20%; Travel allowance; Accommodation and meals provided; 84 days annual leave (on a roster base); Medical; Group Benefits Scheme, etc.
